Open MetaTrader 5 Servers (File menu, the Servers button on the main toolbar, or Servers at the top of the Dashboard). Click New server. Under WHERE TO CONNECT, keep Find broker. Type the broker name (at least two letters) and click Search. Choose the Broker and the Server. Under ACCOUNT, fill in Account number, Password, and Name in the app. Under OPTIONS, decide whether the app should Connect when the app opens and whether the account uses Two-step authentication (2FA). Click Save and connect.

Fields and options

When you save, the app connects once to validate the account.

Common messages

Fill in the account. Fill in the password. Fill in the name for the MetaPro Trader account. Select a broker. Select a server. Broker not found. No server found. Unable to connect to the MT5 server. Accounts with two-step verification (2FA)

If your broker requires a code from an authenticator app, turn on Two-step authentication (2FA) in the registration. The Two-step verification window opens on every connection.

Open the authenticator app linked to the account (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, and similar apps). Type or paste the 6-digit code. Click Connect (or press Enter).

The window shows how long until the next code (New code in … s) and, from the second try on, Attempt … of …. If the code is rejected, Invalid or expired code. Wait for the next code and try again. appears. After 5 rejected codes in a row, check that the computer and phone clocks are correct. Cancel leaves the server as Stopped by user.

Accounts with 2FA need you at startup: the opening screen shows waiting for 2FA code until the code is entered.

4.2 Add server through domain or IP

Use this option when you already have the technical details provided by the broker.

Open MetaTrader 5 Servers and click New server. Under WHERE TO CONNECT, choose IP or domain. Fill in IP or domain and Port. Fill in Account number, Password, and Name in the app. Adjust the OPTIONS and click Save and connect.

Common messages

4.3 Edit and delete server

Each row of the list shows the name in the app, the broker, the server, the account number, the Connects at startup and 2FA tags (when on), and the current connection state.

Possible server states

Connected Connecting Recovering (the app is reconnecting by itself) Waiting to retry Stopped by user Credential blocked (the broker rejected the password; fix it in Edit — the app does not retry on its own so the account is not locked) Blocked by failure (several failures in a row; use Connect to try again) Disconnected

To edit a registration

On the desired row, click the pencil (Edit). Review Account number and Name in the app (and IP or domain/Port for manual connections). Leave Password blank to keep the current password, or type a new one to change it. Click Save.
